Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the query and supplies any response. Lancaster County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained long enough to address it and for ordinary records administration. We do not disclose the message outside our organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates, times, and time spent
- Browser name and version
- Device class and operating system
- Pages viewed during the visit
- Referring site, when one is supplied
- Internet Protocol address assigned to the device
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure aggregate traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Analytics providers may assist with that measurement. A browser can block cookies, although some site functions may then work differently.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Lancaster County Criminal History neither keeps nor sells a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to Lancaster County agencies, Nebraska courts, Nebraska State Patrol's repository, and the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not compiled into a consumer report or a dossier about another person, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. A partner's privacy policy, retention period, and disclosure rules apply to information submitted through its tool. We cannot control those choices, so review the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Lancaster County offices, Nebraska court portals, state agencies, legal resources, or outside tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's policy governs. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites for interest-based advertising.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance
- Search partners that process a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks that serve content on these pages
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information under our control. No internet service can guarantee complete security, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be deleted when properly brought to our attention.
Your Data Rights
Rights vary by residence and by the law that applies. The Nebraska Public Records Act, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, governs records held by Nebraska and Lancaster County agencies, not information held by this private site. Nebraska's §29-3523 separately limits public dissemination of specified arrest information. Subject to applicable privacy law and exemptions, a person may:
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Ask for access to personal information held about them
- Seek deletion where the law provides that right
- Opt out of covered forms of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. A changed version will be posted here with a new effective date, and use after publication is subject to the revised terms.
